Not a perfect piece of horror, but it is well-paced, atmospheric, and delivers more scares than it has cliches (and believe me, there are plenty of those too!) Caity Lotz is an effective young actress, and makes her role believable and sympathetic.

Does a decent job of building tension, and the twist, while not groundbreaking, was most definitely welcome. Unfortunately, the plot device utilized to identify the presence in the house is one of the most tired, and overused tropes in horror film. Leave that crap at summercamp.

There was a decent inner logic story with lots of supernatural scenes. I liked the nerve of the story (the conclusion) very much - Mark Steger was good in it - and that director did not pronounce the truth in the end (you have to figure out it by yourself). And the mood was well achieved most of the time. Otherwise not my cup of tea.

A bit cliche at times and the ending is a bit ridiculous but overall this movie is scary as hell and effective at what it's trying to accomplish. Extra points for having a mostly female cast.

Some good paranormal scares and a neat plot twist. Nice direction and sfx, and I like the actors. Still, uses cliches like ouija boards and mediums as plot devices, and the plot has some holes.

Good effort in misdirection and plot twists in a movie that starts off scary and quickly becomes less so after the halfway mark and ends with a supremely non-terrifying reveal. Good first effort from this writer/director and I'm waiting for his next attempt.

An arid movie to be nice about it. The film's main star did a decent enough job but I don't think a good script was there for her to fall back on. Most of the time I found myself messing with the volume due to horribly loud sound effects or really quiet dialogue. Some of the music was really bad too. I did enjoy the twist and there were some dang creepy moments in this... just not enough to salvage the film. I'm sorry but I can't recommend this one, there are better ones out there.

It seems rare for a modern horror movie to keep me engaged and in suspense for its entire running time, but The Pact delivered nicely. Moodier than an emo teenager thanks to great use of sound and lighting, and some effective scares. The final reveal was neat and makes a lot of plot elements click into place. Sure, it uses some ghost story cliches (Ouija, medium) but even these elements could not stop me from really digging it.

Effective horror that suffers from some characterisation and plotting problems, but benefits from an avoidance of some of the tricks commonly found in the genre, and from an expository approach that requires the audience to do at least some of the work. Some narrative questions appear to have been left unanswered.

There's some genuine talent in creating atmosphere by this director who probably made this as an indie labor of love. It gets goofy at parts with supernatural "interference" scenes which may have been better left as ambiguous as possible. The tech bits are amusing and maybe an homage to certain modern Japanese horror films. There are a few cheesy jump scares and even a mandatory eye rolling haunted house ouija board and medium (!) scene. Surprisingly it's still a decent unnerving little story.

Although this was a little dry and more downright creepy than actually scary, it worth the 80+ minutes I spent watching it.

Some nice ideas and a nice death scene, but not really enough to make it a good film.

It's actually pretty scary thanks to the way it's directed and shot and some of the images, but the script is bad. Well, I won't spoiler it, but the concept turns out to be really trite and uninspired.

A good horror thriller that builds its tension and scares towards a nice revelation finale.

It's just really, really boring, and not even slightly scary, which is kinda crucial for a horror film
