I admit this picture "got " me, perhaps the incredible preformance by the mother, or Juliette flushing with anger. Why a romance of innocent retards resounds is a bit disturbing if not outright manipulative and creates pause for consideration of exactly what about them is so entertaining.

I admire the performances of this movie, however the content is questionable. On the other side, why isn't it allowed to portray romances of mentally challenged people? In the end, they face the same problems as 'normal people' do. But I see the problems people have with this movie.

Giovanni Ribisi being the high point of this film. That guy can act. It's too bad he can't sell a movie so he'd get better roles than this or the shitty character in that shitty film that made all that money.

Very cliché, but still a very warm performance by Juliette Lewis.

I thought it was ok but not really a fan of Juliette Lewis or Giovanni Ribisi.

The stakes never seem that high, but Lewis and Ribisi give good performances in a film that probably wouldn't be made today. It was sweet, decidedly not dark, and a nice remedy for some of the deeply cynical stuff I've been watching lately!
