The Other Man

Passable evening's entertainment, although one might regret spending money on it. There's a twist, that sharp viewers might see coming, and the tense moments dissipate far too easily. Arguably the male leads are miscast, and would have done better to swap roles, but who goes to Britain for fashion and romance? Thus, stereotypes abound.

I do not understand this movie, I mean, the plot is ridiculous. I do not like Mystery Romance movies and that is the reason why.

My psi couldn't be lower but I've enjoyed Eyre's classy/trashy melodrama before. There's an excruciatingly slow build up to this one so, unlike notes... where I beamed the whole way this only got a smirk around "goochie lohfuz!" then, sadly the fun didn't last. Shitty end...

this was really awful, but there were some nice shots/locations.

As the pathetic, decent lothario, Banderas lacks sexual threat just as the script's various miscommunications lack Pinter menace. Neeson is too rough-hewn for the conflicted cuckold.

The screenplay is frustratingly bad and people who are bothered by plot points that don't make sense should stay far away from this but somehow this movie was able to rope in 4 great actors to play the leading roles and all of them do admirably with what they have to work with.

If you want to see a really good movie about husband, wife and lover, try Valeriy Todorovskiy's Lyubovnik / The Lover (2002). That is something worth to see. In the Other Man only Banderas and his character has something extra to add into otherwise dull, godawful and empty storytelling.

Bad Movie

Extra points for the refreshing storyline. Good to see Banderas in a different role, though didnt think he and Linney made for a compatible pair.

Godawful. A talented cast wasted on a story which I'm sure at some point made sense to someone, but the bizarre direction entirely loses the plot. A boring twist fills in the gaps in the story, but before it comes it's too confusing to enjoy - it feels like half an hour of the movie got missed out somewhere.
