The Old Grey Mayor

A chatty short from Bob Hope's early days. I don't know that these jokes are all that great, but they dash through them genially enough. The license bureau absurdity was fun, though the exploding cigar stuff seemed a bit dumb.

Early Bob Hope goes though rapid fire dated jokes and puns as he pursues the mayor's daughter, who makes the worst noises while she's pretending to be in pain. Too many exploding cigar gags. Fav scene: Bob Hope in a fake beard providing medical treatment.
