Ugh, fuck this movie. If you laughed, you are wrong. Dushku actually asks someone if they have the new Creed CD at one point. Ok, it's fine to laugh at that part. rofl this was so bad

There's a scene in a Simpson's episode where Krusty the Clown explains that the pie-in-the-face gag only works "if the sap's got dignity." The pathetic Qualls has no dignity and offers us no reason to sympathize with him other than his own pathetic nature, which frankly isn't enough. The result is an exceedingly painful and crude exercise in low-brow stunts and flat characters.

Completely harmless, paint-by-numbers comedy that makes the mistake of thinking DJ Qualls can carry his own movie. It has a few fleeting moments of inspired humour, but is just way too stale and predictable on the whole. When Eddie Griffin is the funniest guy in your movie, you're in trouble. Bonus points for a Zooey Deschanel/Eliza Dushku love triangle, and that I saw it in theatres at a free preview screening. This would likely be deeper in the red if I'd paid to see it.

Earns major positive points for all the Everquest references. Is still terrible.

And then the Devil aked DJ Qualls, "Exactly what is it you want in exchange for your soul?" and DJ said, I'd like to have the opportunity to carry my own major studio motion picture, and if I can have Eliza Dushku as a love interest in it, that would be great. Seriously, true story.

No better or worse than the other multitude of teen comedies left in the wake of AMERICAN PIE – this largely backs off on the gross-out gags to tell its enjoyable but overly familiar underdog story (with a bit of a “lies and deception” “bet” thrown in for good measure) – inventive casting of supporting actors is the highlight here, with Douglas and Lovett both having fun putting their own spin on their cookie-cutter characters.

Guys! Just watch this as you would be reading a comic book and you will like it. In the beginning I really hated the style of this movie, but then I understood what they were after. The movie isn't realistic or logical, but it have a real message.

The New Guy is a painfully unfunny comedy, and is one that you desperately do not need to see. When you're chuckling -- not even laughing -- approximately two times in 90 minutes, you don't have a good laugh-to-time-spent ratio. Outside of one particular scene, there isn't anything worth seeing or listening for in this movie. It'll offend your intelligence with its juvenility, and will make you wonder what you're doing with your life as you sit through it. And I don't mean that in a good way.

Fairly standard teen-com/spoof/parody with a couple of OK-but-still-not-an-actual-laugh sketches. The likeable cast, decent momentum and -most importantly- the beers helped this one.

Another teen comedy pumped out. Could have been better if they chose a more fitting lead guy, because DJ Qualls just cannot pull off being transformed from "nerd" to "super cool." He has the same ratty personality to him no matter what clothes he puts on.

I do think there is something inherently likeable about how pathetic DJ Qualls is and him becoming kinda badass isn't a bad concept. What is bad is the execution. Which is hopefully the fate of Ed Decter and David Kendall.

Three points for Deschanel's cuteness. Other than that, this is awful garbage that should be despised, burned, zapped with lasers, and the memory of which should be loathed by all humanity for eons.

A few laughs as that it is all that is worth. Way too many rock stars in this to try and make up for lack of a decent story.

Eliza Dushku is really hot, DJ Qualls is servicably funny. There's a moment, about halfway through, when you realize the filmmakers are seriously not even trying to be believable anymore, and it becomes something special.

Great party movie. Throw it on while the drinks are going, and you're good. Manages some decent laughs, while being a movie you don't actually have to watch.

If this movie has a saving grace, it's that Eliza Dushku is really cute. With the invention of Youtube, however, there is no longer any need for it and it should be converted into landfill.

Despite lasting barely more than 80 minutes, The New Guy could've used a few more cuts. Cameos by Tony Hawk, Vanilla Ice, and a dozen other D-listers are completely pointless; plus, Eliza Dushku doesn't show up until a half hour into the flick, and her hotness is one of its only saving graces. (Honestly, the blooper reel that runs over the credits earns more laughs than the feature itself.) At least there's a great soundtrack!
