This was a sweet movie at times as religious women Florence, played by Barbara Stanwyck, turns hypocrite preacher by her con man manager, but finds love in a blind man. The little childish playing between Stanwych and David Manners as they fall in love gives the movie it's charm and the religious edge the strong side of the story. Not sure what was missing for me, but regardless it was a nice movie.

Nicely done little movie. A movie ought to be done about the gal who's the clear inspiration for this story (Aimee Semple McPherson), but as that's not likely, even today, this will have to do :-)

Synopsis here is incorrect--Florence's father isn't fired, but DIES. I've also read this is based on Aimee Semple McPherson's life... it's based on the FIGURE of McPherson, not her life. I tend not to like Frank Capra movies much, but Stanwyck is just fantastic as the disillusioned young woman who's left with nothing when her father dies after years of service to his congregation. David Manners restores her faith in humanity--and the godly. The climactic scene is positively operatic.

Who other than Stanwyck could be trusted with an opening scene like that! Another gem of a film from Capra and Stanwyck.

A Mulher Miraculosa estreava há 90 anos nos EUA. Não tem como não ver esse filme e não lembrar de Elmer Gantry e isso não é uma conexão à toa, ambos os filmes são baseados numa evangelista pentecostal pilantra que virou estrela nos EUA dos anos 20, o que me incomodou aqui foi o suposto final feliz em que a ovelha cínica é transformada pelo amor, é aí que Gantry é superior já que não deixa brecha para moralismos insípidos.
