One can no longer purchase much with five cents. But what one can still buy for a nickel, but is worth millions of dollars collectively, is a stamp to mail a letter overseas. The importance of the mail service over the course of the U.S.'s history is described. Letters sent abroad have and still do fuel much of the immigration to the U.S., which is a never-ending cycle. MGM short telling of the early days of the postal service leading up to the topic of the day. It's basically a propaganda piece, as it tries to counter censorship behind the Iron Curtain, telling in several languages to not believe what your government tells you about America, and instead read the letters sent from friends you know across the sea. That's unless the letters are stopped by the Communists.
