A great drama. This movie breaks me down to tears like interrogation with Jack Bauer every single time I watch it. Beautiful film with amazing performances from all involved.

One of those great insufferably hokey '90s Hollywood melodramas that are so effective at what they are that you can have your cake and eat it too, both making fun of it throughout and genuinely being moved at times as well. I'm particularly generous toward this one because it's the only movie I've ever seen to richly portray Cincinnati. Count it. One movie. So give it some credit and have fun playing Where's Waldo with some of your haunts.

A truly heartwarming and charming tearjerker of a movie.

Top badass moment? In a film highlighting the actions of two kids fighting adversity, badass moments abound. But the most badass of all is Max ripping the radiator off the wall, before telling his father 'the truth'. After a lifetime of shit, turning on 'the beast' is pure badass. Well done Max! No cats, chainsaws or decapitations.

The book is certainly better, but the film is alright in its own way. Sharon Stone is surprisingly decent.
