When you make a movie and have; Dunaway, Malkovich, Hoffman and Cassel in it and then cast Milla Jovovich to lead them all...

Milla Jovovich single-handedly ruins this movie with her complete lack of acting chops. The movie has some other flaws as well, but Jovovich is the biggest problem as far as I'm concerned.

Not exactly terrible, but even after watching the most interesting thing about it was the fact that I had somehow never heard of it until last week.

So glad to finally see this one. The critics were way too harsh, in my opinion. Not only a great story, well acted and visually stunning, there were plenty of battle scenes as well.

Faye Dunaway's in some Bene Gesserit prequel of her own making.

It has its problems like Jovovich's acting, but after accepting it for what is; a less realistic, more blockbuster-take on the Joan of Arc myth I found this to be quite entertaining.

A Joan of Arc that doesn't inspire any nationalistic, moral, or spiritual principle - except, perhaps, a triumph of reason. Joan's late apology for her pride and religious fever by logical inference is quite literally the opposite of her legacy (and documented character). When tethered to Besson's wonderfully unhinged and bloody direction, the end result is baffling and empty. It's a film about Belief clearly actualized by an Unbeliever, which I find weird and fascinating.

Quite enjoyable flick with one of my favorite directors and actors, Luc Besson and Milla Jovovich. A fairly long movie at 2.5 hours that will keep you going with large sets and a story that lends well to film.

The heavy-handed narrative collapses under its own weight.

It's one of those, "glad I saw it, but I don't ever need to watch it again" movies. Big fan of Faye Dunaway's hair though.

If Luc Besson and Milla Jovovich are, respectively our generation's CT Dreyer and Maria Falconetti, then maybe we all deserve to be burnt at the stake.

Gratuitous violence and lots of silliness is a very very bizarre formula for historic epic. Some scenes drags forever, this film could have been at least an hour shorter and still have said the same thing. Jovovich is horrible, her Razzie award for the worst acting is well deserved. Scenes towards the end with Darc talking with her conscience are interesting, but hardly worth enduring two hours of nonsense before them.

It would be a great costume film, if it wasn't for absolutely inappropriate casting of Jovovich as Joan and an attempt to make the story plausible by bringing her divine revelations into doubt. I know we leave in the age of reason, but why ruin a great story?

Not a life-altering film or anything, but if you enjoy history and war and whatnot, it's watchable. Somewhere between 'mediocre' and 'alright'.

Milla Jovovich is so hot. She alone rescues this movie from the wreckage of the HMS Sucktanic.

If you want cheese look no further. A serviceable film is marred by Besson's propensity for absurd and inappropriate humor and credibility is further shot when you cast Dustin Hoffman in anything described as period.
