it succeeds in maintaining the mystery identity of the spy through to the end which is the key factor in scoring a film like this. on top of that, there is actual appropriate foreshadowing and upon the reveal the flashback pieces all fit together beautifully. it avoids trying to be too twisty/turny so doesn't get overcomplicated and ruin the believability of the film. the cast is great fun to watch.

Warning- contains torture. Very tacky. For the stronger of stomach than I.

Visually interesting but a bit gaudy with the effects. The film would have been much better if they toned down the stylistic tendencies. The plot and dialog is pretty good and it keeps you on your toes as to guessing who the spy is but could have used a bit more polish. Historically i'd have to say they captured the puppet government pretty well and the set detail is astounding. The acting is flawless and the best i've seen with the spoken Mandarin and Japanese having the right quirks.
