The Message

Incredibly dull film about Islam. It attempts to tell the story of Mohammad, but it shamelessly hides anything negative. A few big time actors, but they can not save this tedious, long winded, heavy handed, boring religious propaganda movie. This movie unwittingly highlights the pervasive extreme ignorance of the people involved. For it's time, the message was better than the chaos that had preceded it, but it has become irrelevant and counter productive to peace and prosperity in modern times.

Predictably reverential and exceedingly tedious religious epic, rather like a lesser de Mille item and fatally handicapped by the decision never to show Mohammed at all.

The first half-hour works, being that it's all about what it means to stand up and say, "I believe in this," even though everyone thinks you're crazy. Then it turns into _Wannabe Lawrence of Arabia_ with endless sword and horse battles in the desert. Bleah

I appreciate the effort and the technical side is definitely there, but what the hell guys? This movie makes very little sense and is remarkably boring.

What a daunting task, making a film - an epic, no less - where you're not allowed to show your protagonist. They almost get away with it but, for obvious reasons, we never get to know Mohammed well enough to be invested in the story on the grounds of this movie alone.

A film about Mohamed and the beginning of Islam it's quite interesting, though somewhat flawed. It's a technically solid film with some nice desert shots and battle scenes, but it never really amazes and by putting so much emphasis on these scenes it invites unfavorable comparisons to films like Lawrence of Arabia. Still, it's a surprisingly unpreachy story about the founding of a major religion and it's quite interesting in that regard.

Nice story-telling.

A for effort, but after all this is a very silly film by any standards.
