A little too long in parts killing the pacing of the swashes and buckles. Feels much older than it is, now whenever I think of older properties like this being adapted for what people think the idiots of today want, I think of those scenes from the recent Robin Hood where they move around like they’re tacticool and begin to dry heave. Zeta Jones at peak giving Michael Douglas oral cancer.

Actually really well done! And hats off to Banderas for showing a believable build in character during the movie and playing each "stage" very well! It's fun, funny, witty - there's action, romance, adventure. There's the classic aged hero tutoring the upcoming hero, etc. But nothing feels old or rehashed. Only the end action sequence is a tad slow considering the earlier sequences.. But all in all, it's a really delightful film!

Confession time: I was batshit crazy for this movie as a kid. Seriously, I watched it like three times a week. I've since regained sanity, but I still think it's a sublime swashbuckler, with charming performances (and Catherine Zeta-Jones at her all-time hottest), lots of humor, awesome swordfights, cool villains, the whole package. Love it.

Zorro, who I believe to be one of of fiction's greatest heroes, is brought to life again. This super action-packed film is a ton of fun, and Antonio Banderas is perfect as the new Zorro, trained in by the Zorro of yesteryear, played by a charming Anthony Hopkins. The story is exciting and fun, and it truly does the character justice. Awesome!

The Mask of Zorro is a criminally underrated action adventure film and I thoroughly enjoy watching it still. Martin Campbell is an underrated Director and I think he balances everything well here. And I think I'm one of the few people that liked the casting choices. Antonio Banderas adds humour & charm to the role, Catherine Zeta-Jones is stunning and Anthony Hopkins brings a touch of class. The fight scenes are well choreographed and all of the set pieces are thoroughly enjoyable for all ages.

Better than your average flick but nothing great by any means. You'd probably really enjoy it if you love the Zorro character but if you're like me and you're rather indifferent to him then this really isn't anything special.

Maybe it was the underlying nostalgia I have for this movie but wow was it a blast.Great and memorable action sequences that keep you on the edge of your seat,a great and charming cast lead by Antonio Banderas and a simple and well-defined hero and revenge story make for an action flick that still holds up to this day.Almost completely practical as well, they don't make 'em like this anymore!

Jovial, genial swashbuckler is great fun, with the inter chemistry between Banderas, Zeta-Jones and a wonderfully playful Hopkins managing to offset a tendency towards over-complication and overlength; by the climax, when we have the duelling fates of Hopkins and Banderas in the balance, it all seems a little too much chaos where a tighter, more stripped down approach might have been more satisfying. Campbell is still a master action director and the sword fight scenes are beautifully handled.

A pretty standard action movie that gets it's tone right from start to finish. It helps that the cast is solid, Hopkins being the obvious standout. There are some solid sword-fighting scenes which help it stand-out from standard historical action-fair.

The Mask of Zorro is a wonderfully old school swashbuckling action film. Antonio Banderas carries the film well and proves himself a great leading man. Anthony Hopkins is a legend in his own right and each line delivery is quiet and nuanced. The revenge driven story may be a little tough to swallow for some. But the joyful tone and amazing sword fighting scenes make for a perfect popcorn flick.

he Mask of Zorro is a swashbuckling and adventure driven attempt to breathe new life into the Zorro franchise. There is a great deal of excitement that is portrayed on screen with a slightly irreverent tone that keeps the mood light but does not trivialize the characters. In one regard, this film is more akin to an origin story than a straight up reboot. The Mask of Zorro includes two Zorros, one played by Anthony Hopkins the other by Antonio Banderas.

Fun enough to watch. There was nothing that made this movie good, but there was a lack of things making it terrible so it was bearable by attrition. Thats not really a plus for the movie, its just what it is. I think something more could have been done but it didn't so were are stuck in a world of mediocrity.

Hopkins gives a better performance than this movie deserves; overall it's very generic. Most of my memory of this comes from my father repeatedly using the opening scene to demonstrate his surround sound system to guests when DVDs first became a thing. My father also thinks Ronin is the best film that's been made in the last 40 years.

Ehhh. I don't even want to write a review on this movie, but I must continue on so you new to the game can save some time. Anthony Hopkins, Antonio Banderas, and Salma Hayek, you would think how could this be anything less. Let's just say I have not seen it in awhile and from what I can remember it was just a little bit too silly for me. It got a fifty because Anthony automatically brings in 25 points to whatever he does. This is one you can miss, and I won't hold it against you. Moving On.

Is there some unwritten rule that states this type of movie must start slow, have a decent build-up, and then rush things towards the end to make it less satisfying to watch? It's not that bad otherwise, decent action, decent humour, good costumes and set designs. Flat characters and not good in terms of historical representation, as expected.

You just know that this script was a Frankenstein monster stitched together from pieces from about a dozen writers, since there's all these little non sequiturs and other bits of story that lead nowhere... and there's that long, long boring section in the middle where nothing happens that a good editor could have fixed
