Henry Fonda was really in a goofy mood in 1942. The Magnificent Dope (1942) is of the same mold as his other comedies that year, where he plays this corny lover, often intellectual in his own unique way, and charms the people trying to take advantage of him. Doing so many of the same type of film diminishes the experience of the Dope, but sure it's funny in that Henry Fonda way. The comic scenes with Don Ameche & Edward Everett Horton, both in high form, were entertaining.
