That was pretty painful for the book reader. By the way: plus for music and tits.

Chris Silvertson's got very good directing skills. The editing was alright too. There was several good scenes, like the opening one and character directing was nice. I liked a lot the buzzing fly sound around main character and cans in boots was also good idea for him. But what sucked the most here was the story. Evil, emotionless psycho was okay, but he was left out of reasons. Why he was like that? And the story needed several rewritings.

Kudos for putting the music of Boris and Out Hud in the film, but everything else was pretty terrible. Jack Ketchum seems to have developed a reputation as a more mean-spirited Stephen King, and mean-spiritedness is certainly in abundance here. What isn't here in abundance, or at all, are interesting characters, reasons to care about anyone or anything going on, or a reason to give this trainwreck any of your time, attention, or money.

I will say that Ray Pye is a very memorable character. This is a movie for people who have a high tolerance for realistic and disturbing violence.
