On a scale of EPIC FAIL to SHEER AWESOMENESS on the remake scale, this one rates POTATO.

This script is filled to the brim with 'convenient' moments and twists galore. Feels very overproduced in a way, as if the writers wanted to cram as much as possible in there. They should 've thought about the saying: sometimes less is more.

A lot of plot conveniences and bro douchery that the actors (even Mr. Chameleon himself, Karl Urban) didn't seem to understand or relate to. It's kind of a fast food mystery (complete with an implied incest subplot for those who printed out the mystery film BINGO card)...but it is at least engrossing, and the two main dudes were handsome as all get-out-of-the-closet.

"The Loft" isn't too bad if you can get past the odors caused by the vast amounts of red herring packed into the movie.

A good solid mystery. Not mind-shattering, but not boring either.

The poster is better than the entire movie. I want to know who they stole it from, so I can watch that instead.

Some pretty girls and handsome men, but a lot of unrewarding dramatic acting with characters that were hard to be invested in. Performances were strained by the material. The mystery was delivered very poorly. I was tired of it by half way, and the second half did not redeem it. Something good could have been done with this premise and with these actors, but this was not.

Whatever convinced you to watch The Loft, whatever you're trying to get out of the experience, it's not worth it. It's not engaging, it's not well-written, it's not sexy, it's not shocking, it's probably not even disastrous enough to give you good review material. Trust me, just don't.

The Loft is a Hollywood remake of the highest-grossing Flemish film in history, though it's helmed by the same man, Erik Van Looy, responsible for the original. And it's easy to see--with its handsome leads, polished cinematography and ever-spilling barrel full of red herrings--that it wants to be a top-shelf, twisting whodunit. But for a whole barrel full of reasons it never makes it beyond a nasty and messy mid-level "who cares?" (pluggedin.com)

Skewed logic and unconvincing performances make for a thriller which is exceptional only in its mediocrity.

The Loft is evidence that well-cast, well-acted, well-shot movies can still be utterly mediocre when the plot is contrived and relies too heavily on weakly developed plot twists. Urban, Marsden, Miller, Stonestreet, and Schoenaerts play sleazy, self-righteous, creepy, chubby and drug-fuelled-crazy-over-bearing respectively, and that pretty much sums up this film.

A remake of Loft, doing exactly everything the same as the original, but in English. So, you don't have to read subtitles, but otherwise it's the same movie and has reason to exist. It's an ugly, despicable tale of awful people doing irredeemable things for a couple of hours. The mystery is fine but it's difficult to care.

Why is it that in films like this the only plot line available is to have characters who get in a bind do something infinitely worse to get out of the initial bind? So much dumb.

Wow, this is one of the most layered and elaborate thrillers. The ending could be a bit better but the entire rest of the film is superb.

I liked the concept the part where it got all frenzied and you had red herrings flying all over the place in an anxious way. But otherwise, one of the numerous twists could be guessed a bit more than halfway in, and the ending got from dubious to impossible. Too happy of an ending even, I'd say.

THE LOFT is a vile thriller that considers thinly coded conversations among toxic douche-bros to be the height of intrigue. With its convoluted mystery plot and atrocious overacting, the film makes halfhearted incursions into camp territory. One's ears prick up at stunningly awful dialogue ("The guy you're looking for just made a classic Latin error" rivals "I'm a hooker! A prostitute!" for the crown), but the movie's simply not clever or committed enough to be knowingly bad. It's just bad.

While I was watching this remake, i supposed that this one is the 'belgium made' first film, and then I was like 'wait, why they speak English?' Then i realized that it is not. So, I liked this film, espacially the scenario, because i did not watch the original one yet :)

A good setup with a twist-ending that I did not see coming. And I don't mean like "Holy cow! How did I not see that! It totally makes sense!" but rather "wut?"

A dime store novel of a movie. It moves, but it doesn't succeed at all as a story. The only way the writers could move the plot is with another twist. The ONLY way this movie moves is with a twist in the plot, which is kind of crazy to think about. It is a very well acted movie with great direction and shots though so it's got that
