The Legend of the Lone Ranger

Not sure why this is so hated. Maybe the disappointment level was too high, but I expected intolerable garbage (& to be fair the pacing is very old-fashioned, i.e. slow, especially for an "adventure" film that debuted 3 weeks before Raiders). However, the stunt work is always impressive (even if it was standard stuff in old serials),& the landscapes & cinematography make for beautiful visuals. The biggest problem is the lack of action & the fact that a gun-wielding hero can't kill.

Just an average western, with a shamelessly middle-of-the-road script and indifferent cast. It's elevated only by a couple of scenes, including Cavandish's ambush and the final shoot-out, and by Jason Robards's enjoyable turn as president Ulysses S. Grant at the end of the film.

Just kind of dull. I dunno.

Christopher Lloyd was the best part of the whole movie. The movie has less buffooneries than the Disney remake of the story, but it also has a bit of this duller vintage goodie-two-shoes white hat cowboy polish that makes the movie a bit too harmless. Was it a kid movie though? It wasn't clear even if the original story was sorta for kids
