You should probably watch some of the show beforehand.

Unfortunately obvious that the League have got bored of their characters and their material, something that was starting to surface in the dark nihilism of the third season of the TV show. Still one of my favourite horror comedy series, but the movie was a travesty.

Certainly interesting, if not always funny.

Good, but not very funny.

I didn't know the League of Gentlemen, and I have no idea why I bought the DVD (I don't know why I do most things, hell, I don't even know why I am writing this review). Most gags may be lost on me, but what I got out of it was some fairly funny characters from 'Royston Vasey', and some rather indifferent ones from the dark ages. A mixed bag of nuts, as Herr Wolf Lipp would say.

Focussing on minor characters, the actors themselves and not even funny. The only bit that made me get anywhere near a laugh was "I just made a little brown fish."

It was ok, better than the premise would suggest.

It doesn't compare to the brilliance of the series, but it manages to avoid being what I feared most from it, which is total fanservice. In fact all of the most popular characters are only given small parts.

Love the show to bits but this was painful. The main premise was actually quite interesting but would've worked better as a special episode rather than a movie. The Middle Ages sub-plot was dreadful and boring. Overall, give it a miss and stick to the series.

Unfortunate misfire from the generally audacious and original League boys; the film concerns the team's disinterest in continuing the adventures of the Royston Vasey citizens -- and it shows; leaden, heavy handed humour, and an embarrassing, poorly executed, endless digression to new characters in the Middle Ages sink any hope of this film's success. The meta-stuff is pretty dull, and attempts at poignant pathos are undermined by the contemptuous attitude shown to the characters and material.

Not bad but can only be considered a cash in on the excellent BBC comedy.

Mostly just tiresome. The digression into the Middle Ages is painful, and the done-before meta-fictive plot is trite compared to the fairly original TV series.
