The Last Rifleman

A sad tale. Lot's of touching moments.

"The Last Rifleman" presents a straightforward yet touching account with a subtle twist that tugs earnestly at the heartstrings. I enjoyed following the protagonist's odyssey. It felt like Odysseus returning home.

This is a good drama with a fair bit of poignancy to it. Its thoughtful, mainly in terms of making you think about how older people (i.e. including such war veterans, of course) are treated in society, especially by younger generations. It is, of course, sentimental and is the kind of film you may shed a tear or two over. Pierce's prosthetics/make up are distracting to say the least ( that and some plotholes aside there's no major criticisms) but its still a good film overall, one worth seeing.

It takes a little while to get to the emotional parts, but when it does, it hits hard. A gentle examination of war and survivor's guilt, brought to life wonderfully by Brosnan.
