The Last Movie Star

This film comes close to greatness, but falls just a bit short. It's endearing. It feels much more like a documentary than a work of fiction, and frankly, it mostly is a documentary. It's melancholic, but not a tearjerker, which is mostly testament to the palpable peace that Burt Reynolds has clearly arrived at. Blonsky is great!

The idea of this is fantastic and seeing Burt play opposite of Burt in a few scenes is a great touch. The cheesy screenplay, however, kind of makes a mockery of the possibility of a powerful film.

This surprised me about halfway through becoming quite an emotional and poignant ride. Kudos to Burt Reynolds.
