The Lady Confesses

Not bad, but it's young basic murder story regardless of PRC and Sam Newfield showing some rare competence making this one. Slow and dark, with characters being effective. Mary Beth Hughes pure face being the attraction.

Very poorly scripted story that seemed about twice as long as it was, but the acting wasn't terrible and it was funny to see Hugh Beaumont in a sort of campy dramatic role.

It's a 63 minute film, but you have to wait until the game of cat-of-mouse between Beaumont and Hughes in the final 5 minutes for any kind of suspense whatsoever. When it comes, it's not bad, but it's too much of a slog to get there. The plot is extremely derivative, the production values are bad even by poverty row standards and much of the acting is seriously wooden.
