Highly overrated. A lead character with no charisma what so ever. A strange mix of language! Every time there is some important information without no reason what so ever the characters switch from Afghan to English. Worst example it in the end of the film, where the voice in a very moving sad Afghan song suddenly go over and start to sing in English!!! Though a beautiful montage-sequence of the pre-thaliban Afghanistan.

In the book the relationships between Amir and his father and between Amir and Hassan, where explaind beautifull, this is what I missed in the movie. altough the movie was alright, the drawing of the relationships where average.

This is a good film that handles some really serious subject matter. There are some disturbing scenes in this film. The acting is very good, both the child and adult actors. Check it out if you like serious movies and don't mind subtitles.

Some parts are very strong, with the book reaching out to us through thick layers of production, and others are weak, like a bad tv-series or two producers fighting over whether two afghan men should converse in one language or the other. Consequence god dammit! Edited into tiny pieces and only the father and Hassan shine through some very below-par acting. And how can you make this movie so visually indifferent when it's about Afghanistan? Maybe THE most visually interesting place on earth.

Moving and interesting story that's brougt to us in a very detailed and enjoyable way. They really did a good job in the way they portrayed the relationships and emotions between all the characters. Although this is a very good movie, it still misses something extra to make this an unforgetable film.

Life of two friends portrayed against the tumultuous history of modern Afghanistan. What I took away from the movie was the sense of immense sorrow and hardships that people in Afghanistan had gone through, pushing me to search more on this topic online

This is based on my favourite book of all time. The film does not have time to properly develop the characters so you do not get the chance to hate Amir and feel for him at the same time. The film also misses out on some of the most quoteable lines from the book which is written in the first person from Amir. Overall I would say read the book and then watch the film. If you watch the film first you may not want to read the book which would be a great shame.

The lovely visuals, (China as Afghanistan) countryside and heartbreaking drama of the first half are wasted on the too-Hollywood romance and action in the later.

One of the worse films I ever watched, possibly. It was kind of painful, actually - the boredom and the terrible dialoges and plot and etc. As someone else here said, it has a certain Hollywood aura that, combined with the subject, that kills all the Hollywood-movie fun, is absoloutly painful to watch.

A well done adaptation of one of my favorite books. While this doesn't capture some of the emotional subtlety and nuance of the book this movie remains pretty well faithful to the spirit and plot of the book. The one thing this film did was take the convoluted ending in the book streamlined it and ultimately made it better. If you enjoyed this movie I highly recommend you read the book as well.

Forster's mix of topicality and sensationalism makes The Kite Runner sentimental, not profound.

This is a great movie. I love the message that "The Kite Runner" transmites, it's a life changing movie. Other than that the concept is very good. Overall 89 =) Good Soundtrack, good acting, i really love the acting of the younger Hassan.

This film has aura, some might even say stench, of Hollywood around it. Same as Slumdog Millionaire has. I missed the authenticity. Marc Forster is a good director, but it seems he was unsure what his vision of the film was, and the ending product seems uncertain, even cheesy. Of course the film has good qualities too, most lifted directly from the book - some smart dialogs, interesting characters (acting isn't always on par with character), difficult themes.

It is often difficult to fully immerse yourself into another culture while you view a film dedicated to characters within that culture, but I found it easy to empathize with all of the players involved. The film is heartbreaking yet endearing I will most certainly be checking out this story in its other medium.

In tone, pacing and moral reminded me of Shawshank Redemption (in the best possible way). While some elements were cliche, it was all done with such skill and understatement that they almost never felt obtrusive (with a minor exception of the 'villain' at the end). Powerful and resonant, with great performances all around, and best of all, a universal story told with cultural specificity.

Gorgeous cinematography. The kite fights are interesting sequences, very whimsical. There's kind of a quiet tone to it that I tend to like in movies. Gets better as it goes along.

It was one of those movies that I'd see if someone paid but I won't rent or download it. But it was above average and although some of it was predictable, it still told the story well and had some emotion in it. Mild recommendation.

The first half of the movie or so is simply alright, but when the main character relocates you feel the movie is about to end, but it really just kicks up a notch. That last half was amazing and very moving. All was setup up wonderfully by the beginning.

Movie based on an excellent book. And the problem is this. The film can not have the essence of the book, everything happens very fast, although it is a movie well done. Those who do not read the book, might like.

Some critics praise the "plot-driven" quality of this film, but I found the plot contrived, even mechanical. It's a well-made, competent film, but it never soars, as it clearly should, given its main symbol and subject matter. Instead, it sails along a set course toward its unsurprising destination.

As a reader of this book, I was a huge fan of the way this movie was done. The movie is very close to the book, even including dialog straight from the book.
