The time Josef von Sternberg had to make fluffy love stories like this with novelty actress/operatic singer Grace Moore. A really light royal romance script and visually only hints of what the director could do when motivated. You can still see some of his little tricks in the close ups using his shadows to get the desired personality, but this piece of work is nothing essential. Only a standard romance story with a lot of singing and silly comedy without hitting the nail in either category.
