The Kidnapping of Michel Houellebecq

A string of boring conversations about more or less nothing. And, ehm, that's it.

I'm biased towards anything even remotely related to writing or writers, so this really hits the target. Having a friend as a writer there is something so oddly similar to both characters - from walking, expressing, smoking, drinking, thinking... It isn't realistic that the toughs would appear as intelligent as they did, but hey, too much realism isn't always a good thing right? Now I'm intrigued to read something by Houellebecq as I did hear some good things about his works. Great dialog & film

A commentary on the media, turning their version of events into a reality. It is a succession of conversations tied to themes of transactions--such as between men and women, cooks and diners, writers and audiences, states and nations and even kidnappers and victims. And, of course, once the word 'transaction' is deployed we bring into view a critique of Capitalism

Es war eine cinephile Stammkundin, die mich auf den Film aufmerksam machte. Dabei hatte ich die ersten drei Romane Houellebecqs verschlungen! Mehrfach! Seine Literatur ist wie er selbst: Verdorben. Er strahlt das auch aus, während er in seiner Küche sitzt, um einem Innenarchitekten Anweisungen zu geben... mehr auf cinegeek.de
