The Kid

Comedy
1h 44m
Russ Duritz is a wealthy L.A. image consultant, but as he nears 40, he's cynical, dogless, chickless, estranged from his father, and he has no memories of his childhood. One night he surprises an intruder, who turns out to be a kid, almost 8 years old. There's something oddly familiar about the chubby lad, whose name is Rusty. The boy's identity sparks a journey into Russ's past that the two of them take - to find the key moment that has defined who Russ is... (imdb)

The rampant cynicism can be very off-putting in The Kid. It also might be a touch overlong. That being said, the movie does improve greatly as the story progresses. It also benefits from a strong performance from Bruce Willis.

Willis is good to watch as always, but the movie rarely justifies it, with a cookie-cutter schmaltzy story about an adult growing up.

Great kids movie. Bruce Willis makes it very watchable for adults as well.

Saw this on daytime Thai TV which made it actually seem pretty good at the time. "Someone call the wambulence" is a phrase I still use, but otherwise altogether pretty forgettable.

A great film about being what you want to be, except one speech about losing your dreams when you grow up by a side character. A great film.

In the The Kid, Bruce Willis plays a rich Hollywood professional who's given up his dream of becoming a pilot, given up on love, given up on family; until he's visited by himself as an irate 8 year-old who tells him: "You're not a pilot! We were going to be a pilot! You don't have a girlfriend! And you don't even have a dog! We were better off as an 8 year-old!" It's sort of a A Christmas Carol and a reverse of It's a Wonderful Life! Or the doppleganger of Famil

Bruce Willis is fun here, but the movie still ends up rather blah in many ways.

Starts okay & then bogs down in talking heads & sensitive meaningful scenes with a manipulative & boring soundtrack. The message of being able to change your life at anytime & follow your dreams is pretty cool, even if i don't want to be a pilot & have a dog.

Few things make me more furious than a actor like Bruce Willis stooping so low as to do a film like this. I don't care if he wants to broaden himself, this movie is not even good for kids. It's impressively boring, and Spencer Breslin is the worst kind of child actor. Hands down the worst of Willis' films. Utter crapulence!

Easily Bruce Willis's worst movie and darn if "the kid" isn't really annoying.
