A rollercoaster ride of dull and outdated nonsense with a lil chuckle or two thrown in.

Clever satire of mass media has inevitably lost some of its impact over the years as raunch comedy rose to prominence in the proceeding decade and parodies of trailers and advertisements became de rigueur, especially in the post-Youtube world, thus reducing its novelty status. Its central creators also went on to bigger and better things. Its anthology structure is still singular though, and when it hits it roars, like A Fistful of Yen, which remains the best kung fu film spoof.

I wish they still made movies like this. The parody is spot on, the commercials are blunt, and the skits are all-in. "Death continues to be our nation's number one killer." Stupid, funny.

I've both masturbated to this film and laughed, genuinely laughed, while watching it. Pretty successful then, I think.

Some of it's not funny. Some of it is side splittingly hilarious. Hard to really give a score to as such but if you enjoy silly laughs check this out for sure.

Some moderately funny stuff (Scot Free is great) but it's weighted down by a plurality of stupid. A Fistful of Yen is half an hour too long, and the last sketch is so stupid it's almost unwatchable. I'd rather have just watched Airplane! for the twentieth time.

The KFM is essentially one long sketch show (bar the disappointing 'main feature' that takes up a good third of the runtime), allowing this legendary - although at the time young and inexperienced - writing team to play with ideas and see what sticks. Some of them work, some don't, but the puerile, gratuitous, incredible silliness of it all amused me as a child and still does now. Rex Kramer earns an extra half-star by himself.

Pretty decent blueprint for Landis and ZAZ careers -- but specially for the ZAZ canon, because here the screeplay operates basically with pastiches, satires and parodies of well-known situations of a great variety of film/TV genres. Some skits that come after the unnecessarily long A Fistful of Yen are more irregular than the ones in the first half, but this is still a precious collection -- Feel-a-Round, Household Odors, Wonderful world of sex, Willer, Scot Free and Eyewitness are my favorites.

Kinda like watching raunchier versions of 70's SCTV or SNL. Most of the skits which were probably funny at the time, don't hold up too well today.

Fistful of Yen makes the film. That short film is worth the price of admission alone as it does an amazing job at lampooning kung fu films from the 70s. The rest of the film is hit-or-miss, but when it hits, it hits the bullseye.

"The Kentucky Fried Movie" defies conventional categorization. It’s a collection of primarily unrelated skits rather than a cohesive film. While a couple of segments might coax a grin, its fragmented nature and lack of story make it challenging to define as a movie.

Some of it has the same problem as SNL: mild jokes being dragged on too long to the point they end up just grating, and a reliance on the bad kind slapstick comedy. The bad parts make you forget the funny ones so that's a problem, the ending was weak.

After having a great time watching Top Secret! I really expected a lot more from this movie. I think I've managed to laugh 2 times, which is obviously a horrible score for such a flick.

Yes, I laughed a few times. Perhaps this was the pinnacle of laughs per minute silliness in 1977, but if that is the entire point of your movie, then this has been surpassed many, many times over the years.

Just awful and not clever overall. The singular jokes are sometimes humorous, but there's barely any setup or payoff; it's just random skits akin to middle school humor. Fistful of Yen is the only segment that felt like a fleshed out idea and reminiscent of later ZAZ movies.

Not nearly is funny as the future projects this crew would give us, but credit must be given for a whacky 90 minutes. Most of the film feels like that last SNL sketch of the night.

In a way, the film feels obsolete, since its spoofs often end up tamer than its targets would become. The jokes get monotonous in the extreme, but the film still has a few good laughs here and there. At least the writers and Landis had the common sense to hedge their bets with a (welcome) excess of gratuitous nudity.

Probably would have thought it was the pinnacle of awesomeness if I was old enough in 1977 to understand it. Though, some of the jokes were so cheesy that only a two-year-old would laugh at them.

I am not sure if it is the age of the film that shows, or it wasn't funny at the time of the release. Any given minute of "Robot Chicken" if funnier, and smarter (!), than all of this film.

Some shorts are really funny and crazy. Others over the years, are not so funny now, because many of these jokes have been copied in other things. But it is still a good comedy.

Great, great collection of skits and bits that, for the most part, are hilarious. However, a few of the skits really miss their mark, and that's what brings down the score. The kung fu bit, while good, goes on a bit too long. However, the newsflashes and fake movie commercials are fantastic, and my favorite bit is still the sex help tape (or was it a record?).

Every time I see this movie, I still laugh like it's the first time I saw it. This movie is the reason why any time you see the name Zucker attached to a film, you know it's going to be at least somewhat hysterical.
