The Kentuckian

The second half of this movie really drags as Eli tries to build his bankroll for the boat. The interactions between father and son are enjoyable but aren't the focus they should be.

Has the famous rush across the lake before the gun is reloaded scene. Notable as a father and son film.

Starts off on an interesting frontier father-son story but then runs flat into a melodramatic wall once we meet his brother. It gets better when they escape from the riverboat. For some reason we resolved all disputes with a whip battle back in the day. Fav scene: rushing the guy with the gun.

Burt Lancaster is a tough sell as a frontier man.
