Right up until the point where the native villagers are depicted, this is a pretty good cartoon, with a good mix of funny gags. But from the village on, it loses steam and is mostly forgettable and mildly offensive. Too bad, had Avery kept it focused on the animal inhabitants of the island, this could have probably been one of Avery's better works for Warners.

Despite its obvious racist character, which was fairly common in that time, there are numerous good gags in this short.
