Some great tension in the interrogation room, but the whole thing loses steam once you know Agent Smith's true program. A tad more ambiguity might have made for more uneasiness, leaving us all guessing at the end. Instead we're left reloaded with a less-than-revolutionary revelation regarding the detective's true nature and an awkward Weaving ambling down an autumn-time Australian avenue.

Great performance from Weaving and some of the most impressive cinematography I've ever seen (amazing considering it's such a low budget film). Kinda "Usual Suspects"esque.

An incredibly tense film with a wonderful script and great performances. Amazing considering its low budget and the fact the action mostly takes place in one room.

gives fair credibility to both sides though hugo seems to have the upper hand that can't lose beyond a certain point. still holds up as a good interrogation flick

A more theatrical, low-budget, and one-setting version of The Usual Suspects (spoiler), great cinematic and narrative work is done to make this criminal interrogation endlessly gripping -- the twists in Weaving's accused character are genuinely surprising and work well for this ambiguity, plus the stresses and time constraints of the police work (and ethics) are thoughtfully investigated.

A wonderful performance from Hugo Weaving is the highlight of this restrained thriller. From scene one, you can't help but start to piece together what might have happened. Is it a mistaken identity or a Usual Suspects-inspired plot? Well done if not a bit simple in its conclusion.

It's a well-made film there's no doubt about that, but the script has a little too much conservative fear-mongering for my liking.

A dishonest piece of film-making.

The Interview relies on some stretches and seems a bit constricted by its few characters. It's still a truly interesting and gripping film, powered by a cast of the five or six scariest Ozzie and Kiwi actors doing brilliant impressions of extremely scary police people and suspect. And I sort of like that the moral is for the police to not be so badass.

Firstly, the music is irritating. The intermediate slow shots to create a serious mood and capture the emotional effect of the entire investigation on the lead characters is bad. A mastermind career psychotic criminal, an intelligent investigating officer who is pursued by an ethics committee, a demanding and compromised boss and what else--a reporter-how is this good? Except for the impact of few twists this movie was trying hard to test my patience. Certainly unworthy of it's bloated praise.

Great bit of cheapo aussie suspense. Does very little with its small budget, but the script and lead performance are cracking

So the guy is let go b/c ge went 6 hours without being given food & 1 of the detectives yelled at him? Either pathetic writing or pathetic justice system for the Aussies

Just brilliant. H.Weaving and T.Martin preformed nothing less than flawless. Turnovers during interrogation are really thought provoking. Overall excellent low budget film.

Very clever. Incredibly gripping for a film that mostly takes place in one room with two actors.
