Thoroughly pleasant, (at best) intermittently funny and completely forgettable cinematic puff piece for Google. "If only there were some web page that you could go to, you know, type things in and search for answers." FUCK YOU.

This is a movie I find it hard to have any real antipathy for, because its heart really is, believe it or not, mostly in the right place. Outside of Will Ferrell's cameo character and the one token douchebag villain, it's a movie populated by recognizably human, decent people who largely mean well, which in and of itself is pretty unusual in most comedies these days. That said, most of the comedy falls relatively flat. I even cringed a few times when it felt like Vaughn was let loose to improv.

Google is awesome and the greatest place in the world, probably the longest commercial I've ever seen. It's ok, my expectations were low heading in (I actually thought it would be terrible) but it was fun enough throughout to be decent. Though you've seen this movie before with a different paint job.

As a Google commercial, this is pretty good. As a film, it's poor. I was hung over when I saw it and was able to slip into a state of blissful non-caring with glimpses of genuine emotional movement and (gasp!) a laugh or two. It has about as much heart as the averagest of underdog movies, which is coincidentally exactly the minimum I require. The villain is one of the laziest characters ever written, though. Quote for the poster: "Relatively serviceable".

It gives you exactly--EXACTLY--what you expect. And that's comforting sometimes, innit? Especially when the basic premise is so well-meaning and good-hearted. I chuckled enough times that this avoided falling into the "geez, I wish I hadn't seen this" category, but New and Fresh and Memorable this movie certainly ain't. Still, if you thought the previews looked amusing, have at it.

I don't want to say that The Internship is something you need to see, but if you happen, by chance/inebriation, to be watching it, you'll have an okay time with it. It has a few very funny moments and a handful of other laughs. It also has "inspirational" speeches that fall flat, secondary characters who undergo more changes than the leads (but for little reason), more advertising for Google than anyone needs, and only two scenes with John Goodman.

Google, The Movie. And F U Goog, you did not save the world, nor will you ever come close to it, or better yet, will probably contribute to its demise if it meant big bucks for you. The movie itself is... Nerds. Losers. American Dream. Against all odds BS. Lamest attempts at trying to be funny, like ever. Google. Fuck You. Don't watch this monstrosity of an excuse for capitalist propaganda. Instead, go get laid or have a burger or something.

I'm thinking they started making this film and about halfway through filming they decided "this movie really sucks, let's add some tits and ass and a lapdance montage to spice things up" but that doesn't save what is completely forgettable and not very funny.

I don't think anybody expected anything out of this but there wasn't even an effort. This google commerical features embarrassing nerd stereotypes, an incredibly predictable plot, and character arcs that look more like triangles. Owen Wilson seems to win over his love interest by suggesting "why not make emacs the default editor in ubuntu?" which is absurd enough to make me glad I watched it.

I'm giving it 25 because Goodman is in this and Ferrell steals the show with two scenes -- he also did that in another film (a good one, actually) starring Owen and Vince, Wedding Crashers. These two guys aside, what a tremendous inspirational, Grown-ups-like crap, huh? Sorry, Shawn, but you can't cast familiar comedians, lots of bare tits and one or two nice 80s references -- or one ironic Alanis ref -- and expect things to work out. The corporate stuff looked nice in the post-credits, though.

The Internship is simply a product placement vehicle for Google. I love 'Wedding Crashers' and still enjoy the chemistry between Vaughn & Wilson. But here the pair seem disinterested and they are weighed down by a PG-13 rating, weak script and even worse gags. The side characters are incredibly annoying and there's too many poorly executed nerd-culture references. With an unnecessary and overlong run time of 2 hours, this film was a tough watch. The only highlight is a great Will Ferrell cameo.

Ironically, Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson are ideally cast for this film. Both are has-beens whose best work is at least 10 years behind then. Sadly this is a far cry from the Wedding Crashers and isn't even mildly funny despite a promising premise and perfect casting.

The Vaughn/Wilson combo has charm, the supporting cast were fine, and there were some funny moments. However, imagine Wedding Crashers being significantly tamed down, made far less funny, and Googlified to an uncomfortable degree, and that's what you'd have here. Even Ferrell's cameo felt a bit neutered. Might pass the time if you are a fan of Vaughn/Wilson, but this wasn't particularly memorable.

Here's the thing, this isn't very funny. I think Vaughn and Wilson are both past their primes as comedic actors. However, watching two older men try to adjust and fit into a college like atmosphere surrounded by people that obviously view them as outcasts, is quite interesting. It's just a little niche that saves this movie from being completely boring. This concept, I think could be good in the right hands. This wasn't it, but I don't mind it as a one time thing.

Google clearly endorsed this film, which is a warning in itself and the laughs are few and far between which is always a severe mark against a comedy. It is also formulaic in almost every way, but underneath the surface of clichés there are the beginnings of some valid critics of Google's manufactured diversity (i.e. disingenuous) and their claims to be 'making our lives better' through digital surveillance and 'nudging' (behaviour economics has a lot to answer for).

Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson have occasionally starred in serious films. More often, however, they've reverted to the types of roles each could play in his sleep. For Vaughn, that's the lovable, extroverted, blowhard know-it-all. For Wilson, it's the lovable, extroverted, over-the-top goofball. The Internship finds them reprising those familiar roles, this time dialing their Wedding Crashers comedy shtick down to PG-13 levels ... barely. (pluggedin.com)

I wish there was something more than a charming Vaughn/Wilson combo to keep this afloat. The Internship lacks in intelligence, fun, and anything remotely interesting and just becomes a bad Google commercial by the end. It's a solid hour and a half (doesn't feel this short) that you cannot get back.

There are a couple jokes that made me go "heh" but not many that actually really made me laugh.
