The Idol Dancer (1920) deserves the reputation of being one of D.W. Griffith's worst silent features. A typical exotic island adventure with whites taking advantage of the natives and a pretty island girl attracts the men dancing sinfully around in her minimal skirt. Sometimes it works, this time it simply looked corny and not very tactful. But it made a star out of Clarine Seymour! And she was set to star in what became an classic - Way Down East (1920) when she suddenly died at the age of 21.
