The doppelgänger plot is interesting and good gags are far from absent, however "The Idle Class" - a little lean despite its length - doesn't live up to Chaplin's standards and, as one of his last shorts, pales in comparison to his streak of all-time-great feature films that began that same year with "The Kid".

Chaplin was funny and did great in both of his roles. Light-Hearted with a touch of drama at the end before the final gag. These "Tramp" films remind me of the much later "Tora-san" films which have a similar story structure.

Enjoyable short. Not any emotional depth just plenty of gags and a fair number of them are memorable

Very comfortable territory for Chaplin as his two most popular characters (the rich, drunken one, and the poor, sentimental one) meet up for a consistently fun and well shot little short, with some very good bits.

For some reason, I have never watched any chaplin movies. So, this was a good start for me. It is not a great movie, but as with all great artists Chaplin has his own touch and even that is enjoyable to watch. Besides, it is making fun of golf, which I wohelheartedly agreee with.

Kind of a throwaway short for Chaplin to appease the investors at First National when Chaplin was concentrating on making The Kid. It's got a few laughs, but kind of feels uninspired compared to what The Kid would be a few months later.

it's a pretty middle of the board short from chaplin, nothing to write home about, but nevertheless slightly amusing anyway.

"A rich guy is a double for The Little Tramp." Jesus, that plot is old hat even by Chaplin standards. Mostly a big yawn. One semigiggle at the very, very end

Starts out somewhat bland, but picks up in the final third.

Chaplin, always captivating, but not their best.
