The Iceman Cometh

This deserves to be more widely seen. It's the last performances from Ryan and March. Ryan is good, and March is very, very good. I watched the 170 minute cut, and it was clear that something was missing after the second act, but it didn't seem like it mattered greatly.

Overwrought and symbolic. The kind of thing you expect from Literature.

Maybe I wasn't in the right mood when I saw this film, but it seemed to drag. Probably didn't help that it's four hours long, though. Some good dialogue here, but it's not enough to recommend the movie.

It's hard to love most 3 hours films, but not this one. Jeff Bridges is fantastic. Check out Robert Redford's vastly inferior performance on YouTube as a comparison. Lee Marvin and Robert Ryan also shine. The rest were good, but not great.

"The Iceman Cometh" is a well-made movie with great performances, but it's very long and painful to watch.

A four hour movie about a bunch of drunk old men yelling in a bar? Sounds boring, right? Well, it both is and isn't.

Amazing cast and great film.
