Really suffers from having an additional half hour 'third act' of Hassan moving to Paris that is entirely tacked on, as every conflict up to that point is resolved by the time it begins. However, enough of what I really liked in the rest of the film remains to keep me happy. The film is especially good at shooting cooking in strikingly different styles to give it the feel of being like war, sex or science. It's a great movie about how one single thing can mean so many different things.

Charming in spite of its often trite screenplay that seems to forget a large chunk of its plot half-way through the film. Still, The Hundred-Foot Journey has a great message, and Om Puri is excellent.

I spent literally this entire movie trying to think of a movie I enjoyed less. I could not. This movie sucks butt. Only good part was the unintentional comedy of a man with his hands and pants on fire.

A notch or two above the usual crap that populates the "feel-good" genre, but I remain allergic to movies that romanticize the preparation of food. Helen Mirren brings some welcome tartness to the uber-saccharine proceedings.

Unrealistic, very strained romantism and comedy. Very bad acting, specialy male lead acting was terrible. D Very forced but surely not invested character development (all fame is bad thing) were terrible. And food part were bad too cuz you barely see a fully coocked up meal. Even Helen Mirren cant save this mess.

Poorly paced and often about nothing. The first 2/3s are setup that fizzle out to nothing and the last third is a long montage with no time to spend on anything in particular.

I expected this to be pure Oscar bait, but turns out there is something more to it. I admit the adults act pretty childishly and the standard "feel good family drama" rules are adhered to pretty strictly, but beneath that top layer is a very touching and sweet element of racial acceptance. Like most movies about food, I don't recommend watching if you're hungry.

I thought this was a really well put together Drama. I could pretty much watch anything with Helen Mirren in but the charm of the story is that its only set really in 2 locations. Its a really simple film and the clashes between the 2 restaurants are well scripted and you do feel engrossed in the story. Similar to 'Chef' I would not recommend watching this film on an empty stomach. There are some amazing mouth watering shots of the food. Only issue with the film is its a little predictable.

After 10 mins I knew I would love this movie, and it lasted all the way through. It was loving, colorful and had just the right amount of warmth. Perfect for a cold autumn day. *Good!

Well-told story starring some relatively new unknowns Om Puri and Charlotte Lebon, as well as veteran actress Helen Mirren. Excellent performances. Some surprises, but a little disappointed by the predictable ending. However, any movie that makes you want to visit the place and eat the food portrayed has done a good job with visuals.

It's not exactly going to reinvent the wheel, but The Hundred-Foot Journey is an absolute pleasure of a film, an old-fashioned Good Story Well Told. It's beautifully shot, performed convincingly, and surprisingly deep, liable to make you a) ponder what different food means to you, and b) rather hungry.

It's... somewhat pleasant but relatively boring and unremarkable.

Pleasant enough cooking romantic comedy with a few minor inconsistencies and continuity problems. Mirren and Puri do most of the heavy lifting.

The Hundred-Foot Journey, based on the novel of the same name by Richard C. Morais, is a sweet and savory treat of a film with only hints of content-derived sourness--a love story ragoût of romance, family and food. It stresses the importance of all those things, while suggesting that fame and fortune and even Michelin stars aren't that filling after all. (pluggedin.com)

a cutesy, formulaic feel-goodery with a lot of cheese. i really tried hard to hate it, but i must grudgingly admit that it was rather touching at moments. the food cinematography was marvelous, as was helen mirren, and i spent the film alternating between rolling my eyes, and shedding a reluctant tear. the lack of chemistry between the two leads was probably the worst part of the film, but other than that, for what it was, the film was a light, pleasant watch.

The Hundred-Foot Journey is your straightforward tale of culture, competition and cuisine. There is not much that is original in terms of story or direction, and no real conflict presents itself. Nonetheless, the film does have its moments of charm and witticisms, even if a few scenes fall flat and come across a little cringeworthy. Overall, it's a likeable, feel good film that is worth a watch. PS. Charlotte Le Bon reading the cookbook could give Nigella Lawson a run for her money. ;)
