Hess largely reprises his Krug role from Last House on the Left, and does it rather well. In fact, such is his presence, the film dies a little every time he is offscreen. The rest of the cast, including genre regular Radice/Morghen, are maybe just a bit bland in comparison. There are a couple of quite nasty and unsettling moments, and the direction is good enough, but there isn't enough sustained tension to really make it work. And that ending is very silly.

Top badass moment? David Hess doing a decent impression of The Terminator; it takes five bullets to take him down and he doesn't go quietly. Sadly the rest of the film is complete pants (or no pants in many cases). And the twist at the end truly beggars belief; it must be a candidate for the worst thought through plan ever conceived. However, I guess I was always going to be disappointed once I found out it wasn't a documentary about estate agents. No cats, chainsaws or decapitations.

Perverse and crude; a cheap exploitation-film lacking power to shock, affect or captivate. Deodato display smart direction at times - paying attention to the vibrant silence in the air and the inquiring glances of the characters -, but the film is frustratingly pale as a whole.

David Hess was the Michael Jordan of playing uh this type of character. Extremly unpleasant movie but at least no turtles were harmed.

There's no tension in this film since it pretty much hits full throttle about 15 minutes into it, so what you get is about an hour of nudity and explicit violence. Despite being one of the more competently assembled films of this type, most people will either find this film to be morally repugnant or fairly dull. I manage to land in both camps. It all ends with an absolutely ludicrous twist that's frankly more offensive than any of the films' more explicit content.

I'm giving it more credit than it's due since this film is fairly buggered for two reasons: the stupid twist at the end and the fact this is an exploitation film (which leads to some sex scenes that go completely against the believability of the film). And then there are some awful parts that are actually funny, mostly coming from David Hess, who does an excellent job as the alpha intruder who wants to fuck everyone up -- properly nasty. His scream at the end is the best I've ever heard. UPDATED

The reveal at the end is preposterous, and the degree of rapespoitation throughout is pretty vile, but one can see what made this a cult classic in the home-invasion and rape-revenge traditions. It is very gritty.

Sleazy, exploitative, and definitely weird (especially the sweet-sounding soundtrack playing when Hess was tormenting the young girl). Dishes out plenty of sex and nudity. Quite interesting as in there isn't any good guy in the movies.

Hess is on fire, but the rest of the cast is completely lifeless and the direction is very boring in this home invasion flick. The highlight is Hess slowly dragging the flat back edge of a straight razor across the bare belly and breasts of a young woman while crooning her name to her; it's much creepier and scarier than when he actually carves her up. The plot twist in the last 5 minutes is completely retarded.

Repugnant and dirty feeling and not in the good way classic exploitation movies manage. The twist is dumb and everyone is just so horrendous that you’re left with no one to root for. David Hess rules though. He plays these characters better than anyone.

Quite gritty, graphic and disturbing; however, if you make it to the end, there is a payoff.

The House on the Edge of the Park estreava há 40 anos na Itália. Ai gente, o Deodato abusa da minha boa vontade, isso aqui é sleazy demais para o meu gosto. BlurayRip RARBG.

Two friends invite themselves over to a rich kids houseparty, one of those friends is David Hess so soon things go very sour. Which we already knew, cause we have seen David commit a horrible acting earlier in the opening. David Hess is very menacing. There are some gruesome and very tense moments in the film. But the movie can't sustain this tension the whole time through. It has a ridiculous twist at the end.

This could be a cool horror flick, through the hands of a good director. Instead, it's just boring and pointless.
