While comparing apartments in the downtown core to the shabby environment of a marginalized district, "The House" portrays the collapse of the spirits dwelling at the house. As such the adventure of Ga-young and the spirits in the house becomes a criticism of modern society. A collaborative project by five animators of the Korean Academy of Film Arts (hancinema.net)

This is a terrific animated feature from South Korea. The tone and some of the character design is reminiscent of Miyazaki, but it also boasts an interesting style of its own. I love the combination of hand-crafted miniature sets and stop-motion animation with traditional cel animation. It's an unexpected combination, but it really works here.
