The Hour Before the Dawn

The film starts with W. Somerset Maugham's signature, giving a sense of prestige. And then enter Veronica Lake as a caricature Nazi spy with a bad German accent, which sent her career spinning on a downward spiral. Sure, she was known as a vixen, but a Nazi that unsympathetic did her no favors, and in all honest exposed her as an actress. The story itself was alright, a okay war-time film. There just wasn't anything extraordinary about it apart from the trainwreck casting of Lake.
