The Hot Flashes

This is a bait-and-switch. Instead of being about the stigma of menopause and its difficulties that the women overcome (and raise some money for charity in the process), it is actually about some women who do not exhibit Christian values and how the small townsfolk work against them. The menopause is a misdirection. At the end, they have learnt nothing, and neither have we. The town is no more accepting of them as it was before and they are still as bothered about menopause as they were.

Imagine an underdog sports movie where the underdogs are prepared to bribe, cheat and steal their way to victory, often at the expense of their own children's futures. This is supposed to be about "empowerment" of women of a certain age, but ends up being an undignified scrabble about women trying desperately to cling on to youth instead of accepting the advances of time and growing old gracefully.
