I didn't have a lot of trouble following what was going on but there is something that I definitely don't understand. Franco Fumagali did the production design (listed in the credits as simply Decorator) and decided to go with an alias so jarring I took a screenshot of it in case I was hallucinating. You'll have to look for yourself, but it rhymes with "Oak Box."

The synopsis makes this movie sound much more exciting than it really is

#3 on Imdb's list of Must See Steele films. If the rest are like this, I can see why she's not that famous. Script/staging only confuses. There's an intriguing first 20 minutes that had me wondering what exactly was going on (why does the doc kiss like a vampire? I don't know), but I never got answers. The doc leaves for 12 years (why? I don't know) & returns w/ a new wife who he apparently planned on using for blood to rejuvenate his ex (who he accidentally? killed) but was in no rush to do so?

There is not a place in this world for movies this laughably bad.

Okay, I'll admit I didn't really know what the heck was going on throughout most of that (if indeed anything much was)...but it looked pretty cool anyway.

Good setting with all the stock scenes, dark corridors, foggy nights, creepy score. I'm undecided on whether or not I like Barbara Steele or not. Robert Flemyng was terrible in this and really brought down my enjoyment. The whole film is relatively boring and uneventful and the payoff just wasn't that good.

Box Versátil Obras-primas do terror Gótico Italiano.

One of the finest Italian gothic horrors. Visually it's on the same level as Bava's or Hammer studios work. The plot is surprisingly perverse and the doctor's tendencies must have raised an eyebrow or two back in the day. For once I thought that this could actually have been longer as some parts feel rushed; especially the ending feels fast-forwarded and leaves some questions unanswered. It was also refreshing to see Barbara Steele play a "normal" role.
