It was mysterious, I was wondering how it was all going to work out. The film starts well up until Keira Knightly flashes her breasts and then it progresses quickly down hill from there, although the very end moment is good much improvement was needed between.

Pretty good for about half an hour and then it get's predictable and draaaaaaaags on like a motherfucker. One of the characters is called Max Steele. That just about sums it up.

Full of plot-holes and deeply unlikeable characters. Also contains some of the stupidest police officers ever committed to film. Thora Birch gives a decent performance (apart from her attempt at an English accent, which mysteriously disappears and reappears at will) and Clint Mansell's score is up to his usual high standards, but the rest is utterly predictable and instantly forgettable.

I enjoyed the Rashomon-like way the story was told and retold, with each version of the events being drastically different (and more sinister) than the one before. The end definitely falls kinda flat though. It DOES have a 16 year old Keira Knightley appearing topless if that's your thing.

This was so incredibly dull, the only way that this would've been even remotely tolerable was if it was a 30-minute short.

Generic teen-based suspense thriller is a passable diversion, thanks to a sparky cast (Birch’s unconvincing British act aside); ties itself up in all sorts of plotting knots, only to undermine itself with a final plot twist that renders itself a completely pointless shaggy dog story. Though it is initially fun watching this cast navigate the RASHOMON-style storytelling, it soon becomes style for style’s sake, making it impossible to become properly invested in the drama of the story.

Overall pretty decent psychological thriller (not horror) with a definite teen edge to it. It just seems to be a little thin plot-wise to make it truly special. The acting is actually pretty good, and you can see a very young (16years-yikes) Knightley how she's been developing, if you know what I mean.

When I read the title and mini-summary, I was hoping the kids found an old bomb shelter, that then tunneled off. After some suspenseful occurrences, it's learned the tunnels are haunted by ghost, or monster or whatever. Pretty much The Descent with Thora Birch being cute Yeah, none of that happened and this movie sucked.

ok, so this movie is called "the hole", and the protagonists have astoundingly creative names like "mike steel". how is this not listed on pornhub?

Although the story is a little sloppy, the acting is convincing and the script manages to be much more original than your average teenage horror flick. Why isn't Thora Birch in more things anyway?

An exploration of an immature insane mind. This movie misleads you time and again, and then brings you finally to an improbable ending. A for Keira Knightely flashing. The movie frequently drags along, but the mystery continues until the end. The plot had huge holes, but still an engaging ride through crazy town. Psychological thriller without any special effects, felt like a low budget movie with good actors, including the gorgeous Embeth Davidtz.

The Hole tries to be some kind of hip, creative erotic thriller, but it jumps around too much and just isn't an interesting story overall.

"Have you ever craved anyone so much you didn't exist any more? ". No, but I guess a crazy person isn't exactly logical. Not scary, but does work well as a thriller. I liked the way the film portrayed the teens when they became delirious when starving. The acting was ok, but I thought Thora Birch could be more convincing in her craziness. Overall an alright movie that I probably wouldn't watch again.

The Hole gave me moments of suspense, but in the end, nothing I saw was worth sitting through it. The plot ends up undermining everything we see, considering the majority of the experience is fabricated. By the time the credits began to roll, I was tired of being mislead, I was ashamed that I watched a character make such a stupid, yet completely fixable, decision, and I knew that there was no reason to re-watch this movie. It's good up to a certain point, but then it just gets silly.

A British movie, lacking any specificity of place, that pretends to be an American horror flick of a familiar, and not very interesting, kind.

It's awfully reminiscent of Session 9. The unseen evil that unveils towards the end. It's one of the better teenage "horror" film.

A girl recounts the events leading to the day herself and three school children disappeared in an old wartime bunker, but what is the truth? A good idea that isn't successful on the grounds that the characters are so unsympathetic you end up never caring. Thora Birch is creepy enough, but it's doesn't keep you guessing and there is no real tension.
