The Hallelujah Trail

I love this movie when I first saw it. However, I was ten years old, and now it just doesn't seem as funny.

It's almost like a western version of "Whisky Galore!"

Enjoyable western spoof outstays its welcome by at least half an hour, and would probably work better if a wooden Lancaster was more 'in' on the joke, but fine work by the remaining ensemble (especially Keith in an amusing call-back to John Wayne/Randolph Scott, and Pleasence's completely cockeyed oracle), as well as some genuinely exciting action sequences, makes this a lot of fun, if never approaching 'classic' status.

It gets very very ridiculous in the last half hour. Well after watching this western almost three times, always in a more or less funny atmosphere, I don't yearn to watch it again soon.
