The Guilt Trip is a horrible movie. It's as simple as that. It's not funny, the drama feels forced and takes way too much of the film, and the characters are archetypes. It doesn't even attempt comedy for the majority of its running time, the characters change thought process without reason, and it seemed that the intent was to have Rogen and Streisand -- both fine in the film -- locked in a car and just have them banter at one another as am archetypal character. Could've worked, but it didn't.

Not funny, not endearing, not interesting in the slightest. Rogen plays a failed cleaning product salesman. There is a scene where he decides to drink his own product. I'll bet you anything that this was improv. Just a desperate Rogen, trying to get out of this movie whatever way possible.

A modest movie that dodges nearly all the pitfalls that plague decent comedies and turn them into bad comedies. Avoiding these mistakes and casting two highly likable lead actors yielded a movie that's very slight, but sweet.

This has to be one of the most unfunny comedies I've ever seen. I watched it in a theater on a ferry and not only did I not laugh once, nobody else did. The epitome of their humor was, "LOOK AT ALL THIS FOOD BARBRA STREISAND IS GOING TO EAT!" An endless stream of set ups with failed payoffs, no jokes, and lifeless family drama. Fuck this movie. Seth Rogan will even win over a shitty movie, I like him that much, but this is an abomination.

I'd rather go on the road trip with babs, the perfume might be obnoxious but THE SHOW TUNES.

It was alright. It was funny in some places, and very funny in some other places. Much of the comedy is featured in the trailer, but again, certainly not all of it as there were some zingers that came out of left field that were very good. Seth Rogen is Seth Rogen and on that level his character really got over for me, but I couldn't help being turned off of Streisand, who is basically just playing Streisand plus obnoxious Jewish mother ala Estelle Costanza from Seinfeld. Wasn't a total waste.

Scieoclean!! You won't see its competitors drink their product unless they wanna shit blood on TV! Yeah, it's a bad sign that Andy's first successful sales pitch in the third act is the first real engaging bit in the film (the rest of the rote road trip fodder is pretty weak; Rogan and Streisand have good comedic chemistry but the drama often feels forced-see the sudden hotel blow-up), but it's at least followed up with a uniquely poignant emotional climax with sister Joyce in San Francisco.

Feels like it was written by a horrible mother who thinks she's a great mother. But I don't think Dan Fogelman is any kind of mother... maybe a motherfucker

Cross-country treks never seem to go without a hitch or two, and the same could be said of The Guilt Trip itself. The movie smacks several potholes when it comes to language. It swerves dangerously in its graphic sexual discussions. The tone and tenor of Andy's relationship with his mom can make you feel a little carsick. (pluggedin.com)

A decent movie but it's not anything I thought was original. If Seth Rogen was not involved I would not have watched it. As far as recent road trip films go, I enjoy it more than Due Date. It's something to watch if you're under the weather, like I was when I saw it.

Guilt Trip Movie (6.6/10) It wasn't Knocked Up, but it was Seth Rogen road tripping across the country with his mom, and it was funny! Not really Seth Rogen's standard kind of funny: they went to a topless bar where the only thing topless was the words on the sign out front. But if you're wanted to see Seth Rogen in a new role, a little more family friendly; or you just like a great Barbra Streisand / mom movie.

I found this movie akin to finger nails scraping across a chalkboard. Streisand's character whines and nags for the entire movie. This movie is not very funny and for the most part it is just sad.

Modest little movie with not many belly laughs but quite a bit of heart. Would make a good double bill with Albert Brooks' "Mother".

"A comedy with heart," a term I also formerly applied to one of my favorite TV shows, "Frasier." I didn't expect much from "The Guilt Trip" and was pleasantly surprised.

Every few months, my parents want me to bring a movie over to their house to watch with them. It's gotta be something inoffensive, easily digestible, and vaguely family friendlly (although if it's a teensy bit risque in places, that's cool), and it's gotta star likable actors that they'll recognize. The next time my parents call me, I'm gonna have THE GUILT TRIP ready. It'll be perfect for them.

This comedy was pretty cute, sure Rogen was playing his same charming self but I like when he sticks to his strong suit. Streisand really surprised me in this, she was funny and touching as the helicopter mom of Rogen. The set up for this movie worked, only a great deal of comedy can happen when a mother and son are stuck in a car for 8 days straight. The scene in Vegas was great during Rogen's product demo. It was really fun and wrapped up the movie well. A great Mother's Day film.

I just don't get the hate. Maybe because Barbra Streisand seems to actually be my very own mother for ninety-percent-plus of the runtime. Certainly not challenging, but affable, witty, and extremely well-observed.

so much of it is like how you might really feel in similar situations against your mom that instead of laughing about it and enjoying it, you may actually get tense and nervous, and even angry, which I think is not what they were aiming at.

I'm not saying it's a perfect movie, nor that I'd recommend it to anyone, but I saw it with my mom, and it was perfect for us. Whatever Dan Fogelman does, it seems to hit home with me in ways that none of my friends can relate to, because I was also the only person I know who was a big fan of Crazy, Stupid, Love. But I don't mind.

Way better than I expected. It reminded me a lot of how my mom and I interact. She's very sweet, supportive, and nice and I am a sad sack wise-ass. Many of the situations were contrived but Rogen and Streisand's chemistry were good enough to pull the crowd through them.

Absolutely hilarious, start-to-finish. Predictable as all hell, but when you've got two generations' top comedic talents in a subcompact car, sometimes it's best to just stay out of their way. Stay for the credits; the outtakes are great.
