Still watchable but it’s making even less sense and doesn’t even really feel much like a film form the same series.

The Grudge was never a series that knew how to change the formula up in a different enough way to keep things feeling new and fresh, and the fact that this was the first to really just be direct to video, there wasnt anything new AND the lack in quality was a distraction

This cheerful comedy features such classic characters as Jack Torrance, the nice family man turned crazy by the haunted house, and Casper, the friendly boy ghost who just wants to play games. In the end everyone dies, or is about to, and the curse is passed on enabling endless sequels.

This abandons the less conventional narrative form of the previous films and is linear, predictable. Though killing a young kid is still a bold move in (this type of) horror. Not very good. Lots of people die though.

I re-rated this to a two because of how bad The Haunting in Connecticut 2 was.

I wasn't the right person to sit through a third Grudge movie, having not enjoyed either of the first two. This one is no better -- not a lot worse, either, which at least makes the series consistent -- and if you're not sold on the series by this point, it's not going to help improve that mindset. It has a decent cast, but absolutely no scares or anything that's worth spending your time on. It's a failure in almost all respects and only hardcore fans of the franchise should give it a look.

Let's just say I realized this movie was going to be bad the instant I heard Shimizu wasn't directing and Takako wasn't in it. It might have been at least watchable with one of the two. This was only supported when Jake looked like a doll I made when I was 7 in that little special effects scene. Oh and was I the only one that caught the two right arms holding Jake? Seriously.

With rumors of a 4th Grudge coming along, I'm sure this will be a masterpiece compared to that as they slowly get worse. Pretty much picking up where it left or shortly thereafter, the movie really falls into the illogical. You can tell that the ghost of the little boy is different and same for the mother, but she wasn't too bad in the role. She brought a bit of creepiness to the movie. Most of the acting wasn't all that great but Johanna Braddy was alright.

The Grudge 2 was stupid enough with Kayako's mother, now she has a sister? The first non-Shimizu entry is easily the worst from either side of the Pacific, taking the series to new lows of silliness and boredom.
