fairly entertaining, but not enough--actually, it has hardly any of the intricate stuff i've come to love from buster keaton, although the two reelers seem to be a better format all around for him. it is entertaining, and even if you dont like it twenty minutes isn't much time at all.

a bit of a dry run for future efforts, but it's among his most coherent, confident and kinetic shorts, with some startling camerawork (the train shot, the long shot at the bread queue, the soaring demise of john roberts) and a looney tunes unreality to the violence which, yep, elevates it. i also love the gag where buster disguises himself using a woman's stole as a beard before realising it works better as a moustache for his larger wanted poster--a perfect example of his leftfield ingenuity.

Amusing, and best of all, it's just the right length.

Nothing really stands out. Keaton has done better and worse, this is somewhere in the middle.

A one note film but it's pretty funny, so it gets a pass on that, but I'm disappointed by the lack of resolution.

You can tell the Keystone Kops were pretty popular around this time, because Keaton (and Arbuckle before him) rely a lot on police chase sequences. Of course, there are good gags sprinkled throughout, but I couldn't help feeling I had seen a lot of it before.

Good times--some pretty good action beginning to end. Love the mannequin gag, nice action as well (trapping the cops in the van).

A pretty loose plot, not really worth mentioning except as an excuse for more crazy chase antics, which Keaton of course excels at. Who knew Keaton's perfect foil would be a fat guy wearing eyeliner?

Another minor one, I'm not a big fan of the "running away from people" bits and that's basically all this is. Why was Joe Roberts even chasing Buster? Because they ran into each other? At least the elevator gags were pretty good.

I think I'm to the point were I prefer Buster Keaton to Charlie Chaplin.

Buster Keatong runs into troubles with police because of Dead Shot Dan. There is also a Man o' War clay horse and animated elevator.

Frenetic and hilarious. The lightning pace and chase narrative add up to some great gags and unpredictable turns but a slightly unsatisfactory story. Keaton's comedy and storytelling style really excel in the short format though.

Constant chase scenes, with typical Keaton stunts and sight gags; not his fanciest, but it works well enough. As he often does, he saves the most elaborate set piece (an elevator chase sequence) for last. The final shot from the train sequence is really nice.

Not one of his best. It has it's amusing points but the overall movie is rambling and aimless.

Not among Keaton's outright funniest shorts, but it is at least extremely amusing. He sure liked to do chase sequences, but this one doesn't rely on big choreography. There are several clever plot devices to keep it going.

Buster gets in an accident, then he gets chased by cops, then he gets chased by fatty, then he gets fatty's daughter and they run away. Now, ehere have i seen that before?

Some good ideas on display that Keaton used to better effect elsewhere. But what an entrance he makes! In the middle range of Buster's short subjects.
