The Glorious Lady

Even in the early days the Selznick family had an eye for detail with their productions with lavish surroundings and elegant performances. The story is unfortunately a rather tedious melodrama in the higher classes, but Olive Thomas rises above the material. The Glorious Lady (1919) being one of the very few films surviving in Thomas' catalog it shows why she was such a star before her untimely death a year later. A fine performance in a somewhat unremarkable film.
