The Glass Slipper is a charming retelling of the Cinderella story, eminently suitable for both kids and adults. Leslie Caron plays Ella, the plain-Jane stepsister of beautiful but mean-spirited Birdena (Amanda Blake) and Serafina (Lisa Daniels). Leslie Caron has startlingly blue eyes and ridiculous naivety playing Cinderella. Michael Wilding is ridiculously too old and utterly bereft of charisma playing Prince Charles. Together they lurch through a corny musical though Leslie is the only one who can dance. The artificial scenery reminds me in a bad way of the silly dream sequence in Oklahoma. This time we have Leslie ballet dancing her way round a 3 tier wedding cake. Yawn.
