The Girl from Chicago

This wasn't good. At best it's like a serial with several villains for our good guy to defeat. I found the dialogue lacking and the female lead uninspiring. Fav scene: dancers at the restaurant pulled off some amazing moves and makes me wish I could have seen it in person.

Oscar Micheaux made some good raw silents in the early 20's, but his early sound movies are beyond terrible! The acting doesn't hold up. The camera cuts off their heads in their static positions (and thats not for artistic reasons). Everything is done clumsily. The movie has some gangster action and campy qualities, but that's it. One would think Micheaux would have learned something about film making in the decade that's passed, but he just seems to get worse and worse at his job.
