THE FUTURE OF FOOD offers an in-depth investigation into the disturbing truth behind the unlabeled, patented, genetically engineered foods that have quietly filled U.S. grocery store shelves for the past decade. From the prairies of Saskatchewan, Canada to the fields of Oaxaca, Mexico, this film gives a voice to farmers whose lives and livelihoods have been negatively impacted by this new technology. (imdb)

"If audiences allow director Deborah Koons Garcia to have her way, her film will do to agricultural giant Monsanto what Bowling to Columbine did to Lockheed Martin." - Ed Gonzalez

The most interesting material concerned the relation between what Bernard Stiegler would call the grammatisation of life and hyper-industrial capitalism. It is possible that an industrialisation of the process of vital individuation will enable planetary monopolies on food production to form, with all the risks this entails. Even though the film probably exaggerates (to the point of manipulating the audience) some specific dangers, nevertheless, as Stiegler also says, prion was not a phantasm.

This is a slow-paced documentary - largely because of the narrator's soft-spoken voice. However, the information contained within and much of the cinematography keeps the audience gripped. It also makes you want to stop eating most of the food you buy in a standard grocery store and go all organic.
