It's a story worth telling that is an adaptation of a novel based on a true story, but The Fixer just isn't very exciting. For a story like this, it probably shouldn't be, but there isn't much here that grasped me. Alan Bates is good as is Dirk Bogarde. The two hours feel more like four though.
