Not up to the usual standards of the Chauvels (that's Charles and Elsa), but the action sequences do very effectively portray warfare as in '40,000 Horsemen'. But unlike that earlier film, this effort falls badly short when it comes to dramatic scenes (some of the acting is atrocious) and moments of levity (Joe Valli chasing an imaginary bird is not funny, it just comes across as plain ridiculous and George Wallace is not at all funny). A less sincere film than '40,000 Horsemen'.

Pretty much what you would expect from a war film produced in 1944. Some overacting, some "romance", some unusual interaction with the Libyans.

Australia adding their bit to the war(-movie) effort. A story from North Africa and the battles with the Nazis there. They try and add a little humor to the dreary business, and the battles scenes I guess were okay, but those making this didn't deserve any medals for their troubles. Just a half-entertaining combat movie, which wouldn't have been nearly as interesting had it not come from down under.
