The Turkish djinn story was pretty effective and the Greek goblin one at least looked great. The American melonhead cannibal kid cult was hilariously awful though and all the others were forgettable.

Usually anthology films are a mixed bag with the hope the cumulative good outweighs the bad, but there's no salvation to be found here. There's one common theme shared among each film in mistaking incoherence for intrigue. So much promising imagery and (presumably) story, but so poorly conveyed and with such plodding execution that confusion gives way to absolute apathy and aggressive boredom. A most frustrating waste of time.

I really like folk horror in principle, but I'm just not easily impressed by the efforts of filmmakers in practice. The Turkish entry (Evrenol) is decent, and Calvin Reeder's wasn't too bad (though he's capable of so much more), but the other segments are slight, fumbling and anti-climatic.

FIlled with weak episodes- weakest among them were Ashim Ahluwalia's black and white Indian ‘Palace of Horrors' and Calvin Reeder's US ‘Beware the Melon Heads', about swollen-headed children who lurk in the woods. Unfortunately stronger episodes by the duo Severin Fiala& Veronica Franz and Peter Strickland will not save anthology that is essentially a dud.
